Is it possible that I am celebrating my 30th birthday today?
I might be starting to get old...this is especially known because Curt hasn't made any "your old" comments today and he does every year.
I thought I would put together a list of 30 things for my 30th birthday.
1. I know I am pretty darn lucky- two great kids and one amazing husband.
2. I always wanted to be done having kids by 30. I accomplished this with a month and half to spare. Also, I never wanted to be a different age than Curt on the birth certificates, again, I made that work both times as Curt had just had a birthday.
3. Spending time at home with my kids in the summer and maternity leave is probably the coolest thing ever. I love being home and just deciding based on our moods what we want to do. I feel this time is invaluable as they get older.
4. In addition, my favorite thing ever is when Cedric comes and snuggles in the big bed, the dog jumps up, and Quinn is in my arms.
5. It is so great that Curt and I have been able to travel back to Walla Walla at least twice a year since we moved to Denver.
6. Being able to visit with our grandparents is cool. I love that our kids can get to know these special people. Speaking of that, Grams, Quinn wants to meet you probably on Wednesday. I will know if you ready this because you will call. Surprise!
7. I have a few guilty pleasures- Starbucks, going shopping (either for my kids or myself), and scrapbooking (which has gotten harder now that I have two small ones).
8. I have rediscovered reading this past year and enjoy a great book. Some I have tried out: The Selection Series, Gone Girl, Wonder, and Divergent.
9. By this time in life, we have accomplished a fair amount. We have owned two different houses.
First and Second house on moving day- Spring 2013
10. Since moving, I love making our house a home by decorating the spaces and making them complete. Best thing ever was when Curt gave me a mantle that I can do what I may with.
12. I pressure Curt to help me with the little projects he doesn't want to do in the house. Mainly getting to a point of everything painted. Over the summer, I was able to get our hallways and kitchen painted as well as Quinn's room and our room.
13. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher- this was sometime I decided in the fourth grade from having an amazing teacher.
14. I love being a teacher, I would love to stay home, but I love what I do too much to give it up yet. I love my students and I love that I am good at what I do.
15. My favorite store to shop at for me is Maurices.
16. My favorite store to go to for the kids is Gymboree.
17. Our dog is amazing- I love Aspen and love seeing her with our kids.
18. I love baking- my new favorite thing is breads. I love fresh bread and sweet breads.
19. We often go visit daddy in the morning with Starbucks. I love doing this and getting some quick Curt time with the kids.
20. We found out church the second week we were in Colorado. We went with Noah, Curt's college roommate, and we have all gone since. We love that we have a family church and see Noah and Shirene each week.
21. I grew up with great Aunts and Uncles. I love my family and seeing them as much as possible.
22. We also had our "uncle" Ed who treated us like family. Since having kids it is so special to me that they have "uncles" and "aunts" that are not blood related but just like family. (Noah, Shirene, Tim, Kaleigh, thanks for loving our kids!)
23. I have the best friends, I always seem to say this, but it is so true.
24. I hate laundry and vacuuming.
25. I hate a messy house and I pick up whenever Cedric leaves a room. I can sit and relax when I know there is not a huge mess to pick up somewhere.
26. My favorite season is fall. I love the cooler weather, but the greenery. You can be outside, but you don't feel guilty being inside and baking.
27. I despise January-April. There are some long days in there. On the flip side, May-August with Curt having Fridays off is the best thing ever.
28. Watching Curt with the kids makes me smile each and every time.
29. Naptime might be the best invention, everything is quiet and relaxing for a few hours. Cedric still naps for 3-4 hours a day which I love since it keeps him happy.
30. I don't like peanut butter, veggies, screaming children, and feeling overwhelmed with things to get done.
There, I made it to 30 things. I hope you enjoyed :)
Happy Birthday beautiful friend!! You have accomplished so much in thirty years...especially bringing those two precious children into this world! Hope you have a wonderful day celebrating! :)
