On Friday, Steph and I arrived at home to surprise my parents (my dad had already learned of the events and me coming based on an aunt letting information flow, secrets don't do well in our family). My mom saw Steph inside first, was surprised and visited for a minute. Meanwhile, I was on the back porch and she saw me. She didn't question our arrival (although she had been questioning why everyone seemed to be coming to Walla Walla that weekend). We enjoyed the afternoon and the surprise.
That night, we went to the wedding, my mom did not know. When we arrived, my grandparents had already been told of the turn in the evening and they were so excited, the Old Guy even had some tears. My mom was not happy that we didn't tell her, but my aunt was excited that she could surprise a few people.
I loved that I could return home for the event and be apart of it. I think it is awesome to spend time with family, they are just so crucial to who we are. I love visiting Walla Walla and seeing the place I grew up, I get to relax and slow down because we all need that once in awhile. So, Aunt Lorrie and Uncle Mike, thank you for having the event and letting me be apart of the surprise, it was wonderful!
