Bit by bit, we have been remodeling this house and putting our own touches on it. One of my favorite things that this house offers that our first house didn't is that it has a fireplace.
I don't know if we have ever put a picture on here from what it started like:
It was dark and just not functional for us. It was Curt's first project to convert it to a gas fireplace and then make it lighter (cover up that brick).
We have had it done since about Christmas and I have been able to decorate it different ways this year. It is fun to change out the decor and get something fresh in the room.
For Christmas, it was simple and just perfect for our stockings. This year there will be four!
After Christmas, I changed it up to a winter and Valentine's mantle. I really wanted to do blue and reds so that I did not have to change it out until spring came.
The spring mantle got lots of bright colors. It was weird and I put it up at the beginning of March, but Easter was so late this year that it felt a little out of place for a while.
I have been working on the summer mantle now. I am just not sure of what to do. I seem to have red, white, and blue going on as well as some stars. We shall see if this survives the summer or is changed out.
We might have to make it a birthday mantle soon for a soon to be two year old :)
