Today, my students outdid themselves.
They went to lunch and I was "told" I couldn't go back to my room. I thought they would do a small thing with some decorations and maybe juice, but this, this was above and beyond.
I came in to 25 friends smiling and so excited to share in the surprise. Two wonderful moms were there too helping the kids out. There were decorations EVERYWHERE, from the ceiling and walls. Also, cake and pop and snacks galore. I can't believe these 10 year olds could pull off such a surprise party and remember to show up.
Almost each kid brought a gift to show their love of the new little girl. I am so humbled that they would want to do such a thing for me, it was an incredible gesture.
I really adore these kids. I have enjoyed every moment of being their teacher this year (well, maybe not all the moments, but close). They are a smart group of kids, they work hard, and they are so nice to each other. They are one of my favorite classes I have ever had. I know they can grow to be such amazing adults.
In just 7 days of school, I will pass off another group of kids to middle school. It is hard to send them away at the end of each year knowing I never see some of them again. But, I still have 7 days with these friends and I will enjoy them.
That's awesome! You are an amazing teacher for them. I bet they'll remember you for the rest of their lives!
