Rain, it kinda sums up this week.
I love rain: I love the smell, how green everything looks, and how it cooled us down from 90 degrees plus (which is way warm for early September).
Now what do you get when you get way too much rain?
First off, your schools power goes off around 9:45 (15 minutes after kids come). This part makes teaching a little tricky.
Then, the streets flood outside your classroom. This was at like 11:45 this morning. Look at the cars driving through and how much water is on the window. This was only the start. There was SOOOO much water everywhere. Around this time, kids started going home, lunch was sandwiches for them (none for me) and then a leak appeared in my room.
Later, they shut down the street. That would be a cop walking in the road, or rather swimming.
At this point, they had shut down the road in front of the school, and four major roads that would get us away. There were not many options for traveling home because the water was flooding everything.
We finally made it home. I stuck the kid out in the rain and you can kinda see some rain drops on his head. He liked wandering the front porch getting wet for a minute.
What's next you might think? More rain, all night and all day tomorrow.
The good news...I have heard we will not have school tomorrow as the basement flooded where our electrical is. I am pretty excited to spend the rainy day with the little man at home.
