Thoughts

This past week has been a really long week. You expect with summer vacation for everything to slow down, enjoy some peaceful nights at home, and just be able to catch up from a crazy year. This past week our thoughts have been with so many people as they face struggles that no one should face. We have great friends and famiy dealing with things that seem just plain unfair. It totally caught us off guard.
First, Curt's cousin had surgery this past week. We didn't think much about it. But, we got a phone call two days afterwards and learned that she had a blood clot and was fighting for her life. Wow, that puts you in your place and all we could do was think of her all day. We prayed so much hoping that she would make it through and that things would turn around. Now she is getting better, she is starting to recover and come into the clear. We are so thankful for Chelsea and that she is making a recovery.

That same day we heard about Chelsea, a dear friend lost her husband in the war in Afghanistan. Wow, that totally stopped us too. In one day, so much heartache. Curt and I had never really thought about the war nor had we met anyone who lost someone there. We saw things on TV, but it never hit us. Now the war seems so real. We all of a sudden have thought about the sacrifices these men and women are making for us and what it means. We are so thankful for people like Matthew that choose to be apart of the armed forces to protect our way of life and the things we value as Americans.  It doesn't seem enough to say "thank you" but it is truly what I mean.

Overall, be I write this to be thankful for all life gives us. We do not know what comes next and sometimes it is not what we have planned. We continue to think of both these families and want to ecourage them in anyway that we can.
